Estonia’s economy is performing well, but with growth softening and spending pressures mounting, efforts should now focus on improving income equality and well-being, greening growth and accelerating the country’s digital transformation, according to the latest OECD Economic Survey of Estonia. India is set for a modest recovery, as reforms to simplify taxation, lighten business regulations and upgrade infrastructure bear fruit, the OECD Economic Survey of India says.

With investment weak, the report urges further reforms to modernise the economy and generate high-quality jobs, as well as measures to improve public services and welfare. One in four students in OECD countries are unable to complete even the most basic reading tasks and are likely to struggle to find their way through life in an increasingly volatile, digital world.

This is one of the findings of the OECD’s latest PISA global education test, which evaluates the quality, equity and efficiency of school systems. Donor countries must do more to bring development finance into line with climate goals, raising the share used for climate action and reducing to zero the amount that supports new fossil fuel activities, according to a new OECD report.

The report finds that only 20% of development finance includes a focus on climate change. In many OECD countries, inequalities are at their highest levels in 30 years and are widening.
